Moving Tips & Checklist

Preparing and organising for a successful move is all about taking some time in advance to consider and estimate your moving needs. Using a house moving checklist will help you to plan for your relocation in advance to ultimately save YOURSELF time, money and reduce any unnecessary stress.

Stay on top of your move – review our moving tips and hints - use our simple home moving checklist to get moving pronto!

  1. Keep a pocket list – list all of your moving day ‘to dos’ by prioritising your tasks. You will probably find more new tasks as you cross the obvious ones off.
GET STARTED – rental lease, settlement, cleaners, general repairs..

  2. Book your move with us in advance – contact us when ready so we can help you prepare and provide you with professional advice.

  3. Notify services providers – arrange for the different services you need to be transferred or stopped, allow your services providers to process and schedule your requests well in advance. Doing this first will contribute to your peace of mind. Pay any outstanding bills and notify your change of address to those who need to know. you can also find great use of the Australia Post website to notify organisations of your new address and have your mail redirected.

  4. Order genuine removal boxes – get quality boxes of similar size and shape, it should pay off with a shorter loading time.

  5. Prepare for packing – when time allows, you can begin packing nice and early and within your comfort. Eliminate this task gradually by first packing the items you use the least. Consider what is to be disposed of now and what is for keeps or can be donated or sold later.

  6. Reserve building elevator and parking - Reserve and consider appropriate access for our truck and crew to help us find the shortest distance possible. Having less distance to carry/ roll the items is safer and usually means that we can finish faster.

Some handy moving tips

  • Before the move try to disassemble (or you can leave it all to us, no problems!) Any large or hard to move items such as beds, baby cot, fragile desks etc. Keep screws, bolts and other small parts in a plastic bag to keep in a safe place.
  • Leave time to empty the fridge but wait until our removalists team has arrived.
  • Create your moving day ‘Carry-on Bag’ – have all of your different essentials in reach or with easy access
  • Label your boxes with your short code for contents and what room they came from
  • Recheck you leave nothing behind and that you empty your storage areas
  • Make sure that there is someone present at the job or meeting with our team where needed.
  • On moving day, you can help the removalists if you want by bringing small stuff over to the truck
  • Try to not overfill heavy boxes and tape them well.
